Field Experiences
Onsite Field-ExperiencesAre you a teacher who is looking for ways to enrich your classroom activities? The Community Outreach and Education Program offers teachers the opportunity to bring their students to Science Park Research Division for a Field Experience (FE). FEs are an exciting way to expose high school students to real world laboratory environments while providing them with the unique opportunity to interact with professional scientists and staff members of U. T. M. D. Anderson Cancer Center in Smithville, Texas. Usually lasting for a few hours to an entire day, FEs include a brief safety discussion, a short scientific talk by a faculty member about their research, followed by a question and answer session, activities that reinforce scientific concepts, a tour of the campus, and a job shadow. FEs will be customized according to the identified educational and curricular goals of the teacher and the interests of students. Travel and Lodging reimbursements are available upon request. |
